Events calendar: methods
Code: pipeline/tipsheet/compute/events.py, publish/events.py, step events (steps/data_events.py).
Tests: pipeline/tests/test_events.py.
Bundle: events/calendar. The front page’s “Coming up” (markets/density/calendar) is cut from it, so the two never disagree.
Page: /events/.
What is in it
Every event from 30 days before the build date to 90 days after it.
- Company events, from stocks.events (exchange filings, via the Data bank’s
stocks_events_corporate_actions), equity only:- Results: board meetings whose stated purpose includes financial results. The period is shown as filed, so a late filer catching up on an old quarter reads “period ended Mar 2026” in October.
- Other board meetings (fund raising, buybacks, splits and so on) and AGMs and EGMs.
- Ex-dates of dividends (with the amount a share when filed), splits, bonuses, rights issues, buybacks, demergers, capital reductions and redemptions.
- IPOs: the opening and closing dates of current and upcoming NSE issues, mainboard and SME.
- F&O expiries: the expiry dates of contracts trading in the latest NSE F&O bhavcopy, using the actual expiry date where NSE has moved it for a holiday. A date is a monthly expiry when Nifty futures expire on it. Other Nifty option expiries are weekly.
- Holidays and special sessions: the Data bank’s NSE trading calendar, taken from NSE circulars. Weekend holidays are left out. Muhurat trading is not yet in the calendar.
- RBI policy decisions: the MPC’s schedule as RBI publishes it before each financial year (
pipeline/tipsheet/reference/rbi_mpc_schedule.yaml; 2026-27 from RBI’s press release of 23 March 2026). The decision is announced on the meeting’s last day. For past meetings the page shows the decision, from the Data bank’srbi_mpc_meetings. - MoSPI releases: the last and next expected release dates from MoSPI’s release rules, as computed for the India macro section. These are expected dates, and holidays can shift them.
The filters
- Most traded: NSE main-board stocks are ranked by median traded value over the last 60 sessions, with ETFs excluded. The page defaults to the 500 most traded. SME stocks have no rank and show under “All”.
- Market-wide events (expiries, holidays, RBI, MoSPI) ignore the company filter.
- Every event is in the page’s HTML; the filters only hide rows.
Limits
- Dates are as announced, and companies can move board meetings. The calendar is rebuilt every trading day.
- A board meeting for results is the date the board approves them. The results themselves (revenue, profit) are not in the data yet.
- Upcoming board meetings appear only once companies announce them, usually one to two weeks ahead. The far end of the 90-day window is therefore always thin.
- Add each new financial year’s MPC schedule to the reference file when RBI publishes it, usually in March.
