How is India's economy doing this month?
The newest readings run to Sept 2026. At their latest reading, 18 of 30 indicators were growing faster than their own usual pace over the previous three years and 8 slower. Each colour compares an indicator with its own past, so a fast-growing series like UPI is not always blue.
Written for readers who want to know how the economy is doing before GDP arrives. Readings to Sept 2026.
The month by month picture
Each row is one indicator; each cell, one month's growth on the same month a year earlier, or the growth rate the publisher states. Most spending, industry and energy, trade and credit indicators were running faster than usual at their latest reading.
Growth on a year earlier, %, as the publisher states it for core industries, cement output, steel output, industrial production, manufacturing output, bank credit and bank deposits. Indicators are published at different lags, so the newest columns are not full.
