SEBI eases transmission of securities with new low-value QTP and higher thresholds
SEBI simplifies transmission for small investors with Quick Transmission Processing for claims ₹10,000 (physical) and ₹30,000 (demat), raises thresholds, and removes probate of will.
What changed
- Introduced Quick Transmission Processing (QTP) for low-value claims: ₹10,000 physical, ₹30,000 demat.
- Simplified documentation thresholds raised to ₹3 lakh per entity (physical) and ₹30 lakh per BO (demat).
- Mandatory probate of will removed; combined affidavit-cum-NOC and QR-coded death certificates accepted.
The read
SEBI just rewrote the rulebook. The big change: Quick Transmission Processing for small claims. Physical securities up to ₹10,000 and demat up to ₹30,000 get expedited handling. For larger sums, the simplified documentation threshold rises to ₹3 lakh per listed entity (physical) and ₹30 lakh per beneficial owner (demat). That's not all. SEBI dropped mandatory probate of will. It also merged the affidavit and NOC into one document. The goal: cut red tape for retail investors. Processing entities have 30 days from July 23 to adopt the new forms and must report monthly to SEBI for six months. Compliance is lighter — but only for those who update their processes in time.
